Our Classes integrate 3 important components of Parkour Training:
1. The Philosophy of Parkour.
A fundamental and vital component of Parkour is the mindset of the practitioner, the values and traits that need to be cultivated and developed to be strong in mind, body and spirit.
2. Body Conditioning.
As Parkour is a physically demanding discipline, one must strengthen the body – the muscles, the tendons, and ligaments and joints as well as develop balance and body awareness. This provides a strong foundation to master the ever increasing multitude of movements in Parkour. This also protects the body from injury*.
*We place particular emphasis on this as it isn’t uncommon for people to be overly enthusiastic about trying big movements beyond their body’s capacity, which often can lead to injury. Our aim is to condition the body well, and make sure our body is ready before attempting the more difficult and challenging movements so that we can train for many years to come.
3. Movements.
This is the fun part. Everyone loves learning the various movements to overcome obstacles. During this component of the training you will be guided in a structured and progressive format, helping you grasp the essential elements of a movement, while also allowing you the chance to make discoveries yourself. You will be taught Parkour fundamentals including jumping, landing, rolls, climbing, and passment (passing through and above obstacles and including movements like vaults)
Each class is basic enough for a beginner to follow, yet is scaled so that even the more advanced practitioners will get a good work out and a chance to further their progression in Parkour. These are movements that you will pick up over time:
- Vaults ( Passements)
- Jumps (Saut) Arm, Drop, Long & Precision jumps
- Roll (Roulade)
- Wall Run (Passe Muraille)
- Tic Tac
- Balance (Equilibre)
- Swinging (Lache)
Flips and other creative movements are offered as separate courses under Learn 2 Flip!
